Originally from the Philadelphia area, Donald “Don” Krell’s brings years of hospitality experience, and a serendipitous journey, to the opening team at Marbled & Fin Savannah. After starting his career as a hairstylist, he immersed himself in the vibrant service industry scene in Philadelphia, making friends in the restaurant space and eventually taking a bartending job. After developing an allergy that forced him to leave the hair industry, he took the leap to a career in restaurants, embracing his growing passion for the culinary world.

Krell’s career began in the Northeast, where he held leadership roles at renowned restaurants, including being part of the management team at CookNSolo, where he was mentored by James Beard Award winners Michael Solomonov and Steven Cook and helped the group open multiple new concepts. Later, he served as General Manager for The Farm and Fisherman Tavern in New Jersey, working alongside James Beard nominee Josh Lawler and Todd Fuller on innovative ingredient-driven dining with an emphasis on fermentation techniques.

What started as a retreat to the Savannah area during the pandemic lockdown turned into another fortuitous moment in Krell’s career, as he and his fiancé decided to call Savannah their permanent home after falling in love with the charm of the city and its vibrant dining scene. He was on the opening team at Vic’s River Grill, the sister restaurant to the iconic Vic’s on the River before joining Marbled & Fin Savannah.

Passionate about serving others, Krell believes true hospitality extends beyond guests to staff and the surrounding community. When he’s not leading the team at Marbled & Fin, Krell enjoys gardening, reading, and exploring Savannah’s dining scene with his fiancée. He is excited to bring Marbled & Fin’s modern steakhouse experience to the Hostess City, expanding Savannah’s offerings exceptional service, and culinary excellence.
